Laneway White
This newly finished laneway house is a bit more interesting than many of them which are quite plain and boring. The wood inserts give a bit of interest and they have just finished putting top soil all around it so it looks like there may be a garden coming.

Because they typically house 1-3 people per unit, this means a population roughly equivalent to a small village currently resides in these laneway homes.
The City of Toronto officially legalized laneway suites as-of-right for many properties between 2018 and 2019. While approximately 47,000 to 48,000 residential lots abut public laneways and are zoned for these suites, actual construction has been slower due to permits and building costs:
I like the look of this one. I also like that they are just the right size. I really don't understand all those people who want huge, sprawling houses.

I think it's great that these houses are being built for people that need them. I'd live there.

ReplyDeleteWow, now this would be very interesting to see the inside, I'm betting it's actually pretty well in size and rooms. It's also fun to think of how to decorate the outside! New beginnings.
