Ms Lube, in the little Italy area of Toronto, was the first and possibly is still the only all-female automotive service centre in North America. All the mechanics are women! There was some controversy over the name and a lawsuit was started by Mr Lube over trademark infringement but the name remains so I think the suit was thrown out.

I wish they had one here! I'd give it a try!
ReplyDeleteIt's cool concept.
ReplyDeleteThat's very interesting, it's cool to see there's a place like this.
ReplyDeleteI love the design of the sign! ;-)
Nice capture!
ReplyDeleteVery nice!
ReplyDelete'mechanchik' - love it!
ReplyDeleteToo far for me to go. If they were in my area I would give them a try.
ReplyDeletei have seen this garage and they have 2 wonderful 50's cars as their 'shop vehicles' sitting out front! very cool and i also love the signage - very vintage looking. i also remember reading in the local paper that there was an issue with their name, but had not seen any more info about it. i hope they got to keep their name - very clever. nice photo. thanks redpat - really like your blog
ReplyDeleteAre they kinder (read: more honest) to women customers who know little about mechanics?
ReplyDeleteWe have a female mechanic here and I am sure she would love this sign. Her garage name is not to exciting.
ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad the name remains! My mechanic is a man, I confess, but his wife helps him run the place, orders all the parts and pumps gas. She doesn't work on cars but she sure knows a heck of a lot about them and is very patient to explain things when I ask. So is her husband, now that I think of it.
ReplyDeleteMechanchik is a good word too.
ReplyDeleteGreat sign, I'd like a mechanchik over here.
ReplyDeleteGirl power!!!
