Pollock at the AGO
I love this painting by Jackson Pollock, titled "Number 7, 1950", from the Ab Ex show at the AGO. It was hard to choose from a whole room of Pollock paintings but the colours and everything else about this one were difficult to resist! The AGO normally doesn't allow photography of any work and it is only this show that is the exception to that rule - not sure why.
kinda weird Pat, I bet his room is a mess,,,M
ReplyDeleteNormally we can't take pictures of painting in the museums here, but I'm glad to see the same works you've early seen this week. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThis one is very appealing.
ReplyDeleteCan't say I'm a Pollock fan - that's one of his milder ones.
ReplyDeleteThey do allow photography at the MomA. So maybe those rules apply?
ReplyDeleteI am definitely going to see this show. Thanks for the preview. :)
It is great. Hartford's Wadsworth and Boston's MFA both permit photography anywhere, without a flash, unless specifically prohibited for special exhibitions.
ReplyDeleteI must say I do like Pollock a lot, it's my style too and you can be very creative with it! Thanks Red for this glimpse into the exhibition. Have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteThis is a sedate Pollock. Still nice.
ReplyDeleteLucky you I would love to see a Pollack exhibit.
ReplyDeleteYay to this exhibit for allowing photos and yay for you for sharing them with all of us. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteLove his work. It's great that photos are allowed there.
ReplyDeleteI enlarged the photo and I'm glad I did. I like the colours too.
ReplyDeleteMostly I dislike this kind of art but I agree with you here. And I've done some photography which looks a bit like Jackson Pollock...I'll post some of that occasionally on our Images blog.
ReplyDeleteNice they let you take pics. I'll look forward to seeing more of them.
Thanx for your nice comment on The Villages DP!
Like Pollock... the painter and fish(sp?).
