Another Deco Entrance
This building which was built as the Canada Permanent Building, but is now CIBC Mellon, is just around the corner from the Concourse which I have shown for the last 2 days. It was completed in 1930 and designed by architect F. Hilton Wilkes and has to have one of the most spectacular entrances in Toronto with its coffered barrel vault and ornate Deco detailing.
All of these entrances are magnificent! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful art deco example!
ReplyDeleteIncredible. Love the gold doors and the lights, too. And thanks for including the gentleman in the shorts as he really helps provide a sense of scale!
ReplyDeleteLove all the textures in this doorway.
ReplyDeleteThey built them to last didn't they! Terrific.
ReplyDeleteAnother gorgeous building. What a grand entrance.
ReplyDeleteVery fancy! ;-)
ReplyDeleteThis classical entrance is exquisite. What, no crazy murals painted on it? (THIS is my taste . . . )
ReplyDeleteSo stately.
ReplyDeleteTwo of my favourite combinations, arches and art deco, I love the way the arch is big enough to encompass the second level of the building.
ReplyDeleteAnother amazing looking entrance, love the lights too.
ReplyDeleteHandsome entrance to this building. Nice to see the human there to show how BIG the entrance is.
ReplyDeleteImpressive entrance ! :)
