I came across this vegan restaurant, The Hogtown Vegan, by chance and totally love their sign with the wonderful pig. I've not eaten here but apparently they serve Southern comfort style food done totally vegan! Hogtown is one of the many nicknames for Toronto, this one based on the fact that the city has a long history of livestock processing. The menu looked intriguing and the reviews I found on-line were good so I think I will add this to my list of places to try!

Fantastic idea, I'm sure it's a popular place!
ReplyDeleteThe restaurant doesn't look very inviting, but that's maybe because they were closed when the picture was taken.
ReplyDeleteThe sign of the pig is indeed wonderful!
Toronto's nickname lives on.
ReplyDeletelove the name and the little fat pig.:p

Cool!
ReplyDeleteIf I were a hog, I'd feel safe there for sure. ;))
ReplyDeleteAn excellent post/photo for the Signs theme! There's something ironic about "Hogtown Vegan."
ReplyDeleteI believe you told me you were a veggie before. Lois Anne is also. She would no doubt love this place.
Thanks for your nice comment on our new blog. I could not keep up all the others and was just about ready to quit entirely but decided having one blog on that website should work out just fine.
a vegan pig - now that's a new one - does it fly? - seriously though I'm sure it's a fine place to eat.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to a restaurant review!
ReplyDeleteI like that sign too. Very creative.
ReplyDeleteI am sure it must be confusing for out-of-towners who weren't familiar with the nickname!
ReplyDeleteRight after going huh, I was laughing out loud, thank you for the explanation.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds interesting. I like the idea of vegan comfort food. :)
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that was the nickname for Toronto!
ReplyDeleteAre you sure no parts of the piggy goes into the food? ;)
Hogtown and vegan in the same sentence is an oxymoron!
ReplyDeleteIf I lived in Toronto I would invite you for a lunch in this restaurant, I'd love to try the vegan comfort food. :)
ReplyDelete(Love the big Teddy Bear; the three little pigs were very cute too!)
A bit of irony in the name but sounds good.
ReplyDeleteWhat an odd name for a vegan restaurant. I wouldn't expect them to "honor" the history of hog livestock slaughtering in their name.
ReplyDeleteI think that pig is smiling because he know's he safe here.
ReplyDeleteSurely they are not telling porkies.
ReplyDeleteI like it Pat. We have a place here called The Hogsbreath Cafe, methinks the porcine would not be as safe here as in your spot!
ReplyDeleteP.s. I've never eaten here and never will..the name puts me off haha!
Somewhere I'll have to go if I ever make it to Toronto..Nice shot Red Pat!
ReplyDeleteI definitely like the name of the place and would be interested in trying their fare. Thanks for including the history bit about Hogtown/Toronto. I was not aware.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit and comment on my sign. Hope you are having a great weekend.
I imagine they're drawing the blinds to keep out the heat of the daytime sun?
