The Schoolhouse Condos
This has to be one of the most successful conversions - this one was an elementary school in the Annex until a few years ago when it was developed and changed into condos. Everything seems to work so well from a design perspective and the snow is an added bonus!
I like this design very much. This looks like a very nice place to have a condo. I wonder what that penthouse looks like.
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful building.
ReplyDeleteLooks nice.
ReplyDeleteIt's a nice condo and the snow makes it much more fancy. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI'd love to live in a school. I had a friend whose parents bought an old elementary school and converted it into their house. Anne's bedroom was wall-to-wall chalkboards. How lucky can a kid get?
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. This conversion was done very well. The interior spaces are probably pretty generous, too. I wonder what it feels like for a former student to live in his/her school building.
ReplyDeleteFor those who loved to go to school, this place would be the perfect home.
ReplyDeleteHow interesting to be able ti say you lived in an old school.
ReplyDeleteEvery once in awhile when architects work on a space like that, they get it just right. That looks like one such case.
ReplyDeleteI always wonder if they kept some of the wonderful things about schoolhouses when they converted, like great big black boards, fabulous hardwood floors and maybe even recess bells?
ReplyDeleteIt is stately and elegant. Nothing false or farcical about it. Those windows give a sense of height and are very attractive.
ReplyDeleteAs much as you're enjoying my beach scenes Pat, I'm equally (maybe even a little more) enjoying your cool images..why do we always find the opposite so attractive hey! It's going to be 37C here today, come on do you really like the idea of that! how is Mum doing? I know it can take a while to feel 'back to normal' after some of those flue's.
ReplyDeleteVery nice.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful, isn't it?

That reminds me of the old school house in downtown Albuquerque. They converted those into loft condos.
ReplyDeleteI've seen people in rural areas convert one room school houses into homes. Converting urban schools into condos is a new one on me.
ReplyDeleteI like all the glass, makes for a very bright and airy interior!
ReplyDeleteLooks amazing! Hard to think of it as a condo from the outside. If you leave out that top part, it really still looks like a school building to me. I wonder how big the rooms are inside, since it was probably converted from big classrooms. Too bad there weren’t any interior pics.

It’s good that they at least maintained the facade of the school on the outside. That way, people who used to study there in their elementary years could still pass by and reminisce. I wonder how many rooms it has? Judging from the pic, it looks like it has 3 floors, plus an added(?) penthouse.
