"Orenda"
The wavy structure seen in yesterday's pic is actually a pedestrian walkway joining 2 condo towers that is part of an art installation called Orenda. It was designed by Canadian artist Marlene Hilton Moore and installed here in 2003 at CityPlace as part of the city required art component of the development. The swirling stainless steel pieces are said to represent the branches of a willow tree wrapping protectively around the skywalk.
I like this very much.
ReplyDeleteGreat way to make a rather ordinary structure look special.
ReplyDeleteoh, i like that very much!
ReplyDeleteVery nice touch!
ReplyDeleteFirst thought: It looks like the branches of a tree or the roots of one of your ficus trees. This is a superb example of sculpture that matters!
ReplyDeleteIt fits in perfectly with its surroundings, very dynamic and modern!
ReplyDeleteThis bridge is pretty cool. Toronto seems more serious about the art set-aside program, and the real estate developers seem to be using those funds for pretty high quality artwork. Good for Toronto.
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought it WAS a tree. Works so perfectly in the winter when the surrounding trees are leafless.
ReplyDeleteThose must be 'in' these days. We have a remodeled bridge with is effect.
ReplyDeleteI see it Pat, what a very different design idea, like it very much.
ReplyDeleteThe organic design of this walkway really caught my eye.
ReplyDeleteVery cool. I have never seen this.
