Details

Continuing on random posts from my recent trip, this is a shot taken in London of some of the wonderful details that I found on the Adelphi building overlooking the Strand by the River Thames . The building was constructed from 1936 to 38 and has so much wonderful Art Deco detailing all over it - around the doorways and the corners, etc that I took many pics. These little guys were found in the door surrounds and seem to be performing various activities but I am not sure what the significance is. I really liked them though.

    Cute lil' guys. Makes me think this might be a library. Or maybe a prison and they're running away! :)

    It was hard to tell what the building was but I think it may be a posh office building. There many different figures on the building - Greek gods, zodiac symbols, coats-of-arms, etc. And wonderful deco patterning.

    The only idea this figure brings to mind is a boy delivering newspapers, but I love the idea of similar little guys performing different tasks.

    The more you look at theses older buildings the more details one will see. This is something that you will not see on present day structures.
