While I was in London I took a trip up to the top (33rd floor) of the Centrepoint building in the West End and got some fabulous shots even though it was a cloudy misty day. It isn't often that you can get a shot of a church from above the steeple and I really like this perspective of St Giles-In-The-Fields Anglican church. This church was built between 1730-34 in the Palladian style and underwent a large restoration in 1952-53. With its lovely trees it looks like a little oasis among all the buildings that have sprung up around it over the centuries.
Taking part in Inspired Sunday. Click here for more religious buildings.
The green roof amongst the trees is very attractive. This IS a great view.
ReplyDeleteA very unusual perspective, not very often you get to photograph a church from above!
ReplyDeletepretty neat view.
ReplyDeleteNice shot. What a great opportunity to get up above it all.
ReplyDeleteWhen it was built, this would have been one of the tallest buildings around. Now, from above, we see it in a way the people of the 1700s could never have imagined.
ReplyDeleteThe roof would have been copper, I am guessing by the green colour.
Gorgeous shot!

ReplyDeleteThank goodness the roof is beautiful from on high ;)
ReplyDeleteSuper shot, Pat. I'm sure those who operate the church like to think of it as an oasis, too.
