This is a close-up of the Runnymede sign which was located in the centre above the stage in yesterday's shot of the old Runnymede Theatre/Chapters Bookstore. You can see some of the detail work and the beautiful restoration that was done before the bookstore opened. There are features like this all over the interior of the space!

Wonderful detail, you did well to get such a crisp close up!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful work. The décor is really more suited to a bookstore than a drug store.
ReplyDeleteI hope the new owners take care of these theatre left overs.
ReplyDeleteFabulous details!
ReplyDeletei'm guessing it'll be destroyed.
ReplyDeleteI'm imagining those details are going to be destroyed too... drug stores tend to take their decorating details from corporate headquarters, after all.
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful detail.
I definitely like that the "theatrical side" of this building has been preserved, even if it has another use now.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous detail!
ReplyDeleteWhen something like this is gone, it's gone, so it is a good thing the it was renovated to reveal its original splendor!
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely, detailed sign!

Books and theatre go well together. Beautiful details here.
ReplyDeleteI love it. It is my favourite bookstore and I'm sad it is going to become a Shoppers Drugmart in March :(
ReplyDeleteThat's so lovely!
ReplyDeleteNow Runnymede rang a bell and so I had to look it up... It goes way back to Magna Carta days...: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Runnymede
Fine looking sign. The name commemorates the signing of the Magna Carta by King John.
ReplyDeleteNicely restored!
ReplyDeletenice find. lovely intricate details.
ReplyDeleteFRANKLY MY DEAR
Exquisite sign. A work of art blending in to the beautiful architecture.
ReplyDeleteOh it's beautiful and I fell in love with the bookstore inhe post below. So sad it is closing. But, sadly, not surprised.
ReplyDeleteI like all of the details.
ReplyDeletegorgeous renovation
ReplyDeleteWhat an incredible building and so beautifully photographed!
ReplyDeletegreat sign
ReplyDeleteI'll be seriously upset if they do anything to harm the architecture of this building Pat.. Maybe it'll be a very tasteful drugstore :)
ReplyDeleteYou need to catalog all of these features in case some idiots decide to "modernize" the building when it becomes a drugstore.
ReplyDeleteNice one:)
