Times Past

Another ghost sign, this one found near Bathurst and Queen St W on a building which now houses studios and small offices but at one time was the home of Beare's Limited. They were a major supplier of things like nibs for pens and assorted other stationery products that have since disappeared. The building has been nicely upgraded with thermal windows which must have come in handy this winter.

  2. It was nice they left the old signage to be enjoyed for years to come. I can't imagine a truck backing up to that loading dock though.

  7. You've just reminded me that I need to photograph one in Versailles. I love them too and this one is great, I also like the old brick building.

For a second, I thought that the person was a colleague!

  8. I don't believe in ghost but do believe in ghost signs. I'm also old enough to have used a nib in school along with an inkwell.

  9. I love the old ghost signs, and this is a good one. Too bad they couldn't have switched to computer printer ribbons.

  20. The old signs have a way of taking my imagination back in time trying to imagine what it might have been like there when the sign was new.

  21. I like this. It has a lot more interest and charm with the ghost sign than if the developers had removed it.
