Steel Wall
This is the front wall of the new visitor centre at Fort York where you find out all kinds of info about the fort before entering into it. It was designed by Patkau Architects Inc & Kearns Mancini Architects Inc and the Corten steel gives it a contemporary vibe while at the same time referencing the defensive setting of the fort behind it. That structure to the right is the Gardiner Expressway which is an elevated roadway running along our waterfront. More pics to come for a couple of days.
Modern fort look, rather forbidding!
ReplyDeletePerfectly apt for its surroundings!
ReplyDeletenow THAT'S a good fence!! :)
ReplyDeleteCertainly has a fortress-like appearance.
ReplyDeleteAh! I lived in a boat made of corten steel! but it still needed dry dock. Nice post!

I really like this.
ReplyDeletedifferent but nice
ReplyDeleteI bet it's noisy under that bridge!
ReplyDeleteI like the angle you took in the shot.
ReplyDeleteSeems perfect for the location.
ReplyDeleteA nice reminder of just how close it is to the expressway. It reminds me of the contrast between the freeways a little further up towards the 401, and a cemetery stuck right in the middle of it.
ReplyDeleteIt weathers wonderfully, I think.
ReplyDeleteLooks like it would be hard to climb!
ReplyDeleteNice looking modern design.
ReplyDeleteI am guessing that you framed this to make it look very nice, hiding most of that elevated motorway.
ReplyDeleteLooks like it works well in its surroundings.
ReplyDeleteBuena perspectiva!!
