Another Yorkville Beauty
I've always liked this house in the Yorkville neighbourhood - it is actually 2 semi-detached homes but both halves are well co-ordinated with each other. It was built in 1877 in Second Empire style and has a heritage listing so won't ever be changed much on the exterior. I am into the archives since our weather hasn't been conducive to much walking around with a camera so this pic is from the summer past.
What a very nice looking building Pat.. I think this scene would look fab in winter also.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous home. I could live there....in the summer.
ReplyDeleteI want one just like it! Don't much like living in semi-detached or semi-attached or whatever that has a common wall, but this is one gorgeous place. I know from nothing about "Second Empire" style but it has a European look to me. Keep digging in the archives - you're doing good!
ReplyDeleteI just love it when I stumble upon these beauties amid modern designs.
ReplyDeleteit is beautiful! and 'archived' color and sun is a good thing!
ReplyDeleteActually, that roofline looks very similar to a building along the C&O Canal here built, I'm guessing, about that same period or earlier.
ReplyDeleteThese are nice homes but I bet there is a lot to the upkeep. I too think I may have to resort to the archives when I run out of mushroom photos soon.
ReplyDeleteYour doing great with your archives. Lovely photo of this classic, stylish house. Looks like residents do a good job of keep up the gardens.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo in the summer scenery
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for ARCHIVES when the weather is less than perfect. :) This building is handsome, I agree!
ReplyDeleteYup, very nice. Wouldn't mind living there (as long as there's a good bakery within walking distance!)
ReplyDeleteNice looking home!
ReplyDeleteLovely looking home.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful home...I especially like the part just above the front entry. I'd be spending plenty of time there if this was my home.
ReplyDeleteSo like my own West Philadelphia. Nicely shown

That is a fine building. I like places like this because they have high ceilings.
ReplyDeleteI like the sun room on the second floor.
ReplyDeleteYou're showing it at it's very best!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful, lovely proportions and I like the glassed-in balcony.
ReplyDeleteGreat looking pad!
ReplyDeleteI am in love with this house! I never would have guessed it was 2 homes.
ReplyDeleteA lovely building!
