Silos Now
This is what yesterday's silos looked like a week ago. Not much is left of this landmark from the Junction as industries continue to leave the valuable properties that they occupy to be turned into condos, etc. It was rather interesting to watch the demolition proceeding and I wonder what the squirrels, whose nests are visible in the tree to the right, think of it all. Another bit of industrial history gone.
Wow! A bog change indeed. Hopefully whatever they build in it's place will be nice!
ReplyDeleteSomehow it always makes me sad to see these structures or buildings go.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness!
ReplyDeleteOh dear, I had no idea they would be taking them down.
ReplyDeleteoh, not what i expected to see. aww...
ReplyDeleteand it has has disapeared
ReplyDeleteI really didn't expect this! We have an old and ugly silo in the harbor that would deserve this fate much more than yours...
ReplyDeleteWell! This couldn't be more different to what I was expecting Pat.. murals indeed :) mind you if they're not in use they're much better down than up :)
ReplyDeleteVery powerful shot!
ReplyDeleteGiven that developers love nothing more than to build condo monstrosities with no soul, this is a loss, but not surprising.
ReplyDeleteHello from Greece! Love to see the beauties of Canada!
ReplyDeleteStrange... when I saw yesterday's post condos came to mind.
ReplyDeleteOh. Ok. So it *is* right in the middle of the city. Life goes on and who will remember them?
ReplyDeleteExcellent pair of posts!

They must have been quite a show coming down at least.
ReplyDeleteI thought the same think that Sharon posted.
ReplyDeleteMy goodness that is quite the change.
ReplyDeletePity. Couldn't they have put the condos in them? That would have been unique.
ReplyDeleteAnother landmark gone forever...
ReplyDeleteQuite a change, I didn't expect this...
ReplyDeleteOh my that must have been something to witness!
ReplyDeleteI was amused that so many people were not expecting this shot! These silos are rather hulking masses of concrete, though. Not sure what could have been done with them.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing constant is change. Given Toronto's condo boom, maybe I am your only viewer that expected that they were doomed to the scrap heap in favor of more condos.
ReplyDeleteThe "need" for so many condos mystifies me. :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like the silos in Buffalo, NY that have been saved as Silo City. Tom The Backroads Traveller
