The March theme for the City Daily Photo blog community is ageing and rather than a self portrait, I present this old delivery truck which was spotted in the Distillery District and may have been used to deliver some of the local liquor. It is probably from the 1940s and the years look to have been hard on the old thing!

Life is hard even for trucks. Alcohol will age you fast they say. Case in point?
ReplyDeletelovely car but old
ReplyDeleteThat front tire is looking a bit flat. :)
ReplyDeleteTruly aged!
ReplyDeletevery cool.
ReplyDeleteOh the poor thing needs a new tyre! I'd drive it!
ReplyDeleteExcellent choice for the theme. It does look like it's worked very hard over the years.
ReplyDeleteIt may be of great age, but to me it's something beautiful, still! A lovely capture of it too, the colors are stunning in the whole photo!
ReplyDeleteOh pool old thing hasn't aged well at all :) Metal doesn't really withstand the test of time like wood and bricks! You're going to have to do a self portrait next month Pat, isn't that the theme for April?
ReplyDeleteNow that is a great find! You picked the perfect time of day to take this photo. The light is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteIt has a lot of character!
ReplyDeleteLate thirties. Cool truck which I imagine wouldn't take too much to get rolling once again.
ReplyDeleteLove the look of this truck, all that beautiful rust set against the red bricks on this building.
ReplyDeleteimagine the memories drivers of that truck must have .. the liquor angle is a nice tough .. also I notice that the color of the truck match the color of your shoes in your profile (smile)
ReplyDeleteSafe to say it's now in retirement!
ReplyDeleteExcellent find -- perfect for theme day. I would love to stumble across an old rusty truck like this when I have my camera.
ReplyDeleteand the weathered Belgian Blocks under it's tyres!

Brilliant theme day post for Ageing.
ReplyDeleteI love the look of old cars and trucks. They make great photos. This one is especially nice. It is aging for sure.
ReplyDeleteI am surprised no one has repaired this vehicle and entered it into shows or exhibitions.
ReplyDeleteIt could become a hobby for a mechanic or engineer.
Fabulous find and choice for today Pat.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite of this months theme day photos!
ReplyDeleteOh, man! Just about all of that truck is rotting away.
ReplyDeleteThe years have not been kind!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful light. The flat tire is a very nice touch.
ReplyDeleteI agree with William: the years have not been kind.
ReplyDeleteI love all the colors in this shot. Well done !
ReplyDeleteThis old truck needs some TLC. "rather than a self portrait" made me laugh.
ReplyDeletePS: Sunday's photo on my blog is not Halifax. Checkout 201 Church Street, Toronto on Google maps street view.
Out to pasture. (I love the colors.)
ReplyDeleteWe all need a little TLC when we age, but maybe this one is beyond that?!
ReplyDeletePat, your got me with this photo. I've always loved the shape and character of old trucks. Your photo beautifully captures the shape and style of these old beauties. But I could not figure out what kind of truck this was until I did a search. It is a 1946 Fargo, a kind of truck built by Dodge, but only sold in Canada. It is far better looking than the Dodge sold in the U.S. at the same time.
ReplyDeleteHere is what a restored 1947 Fargo looks like.

I'm not exactly sure of the year. It might be a 1947, but it's close. Trucks didn't change as much as cars over the years. I would send you a picture I found if I had a way to do that.
ReplyDeletePerfect choice. I always have to check this one out when I am in the area.
ReplyDeleteFantastic find for this theme !
ReplyDeleteVery cool! Great entry.
ReplyDeleteoh it has character all right but I like it. The rust is pretty, kind of.
