The coin in the pic in the bus shelter is our $2 coin (aka toonie) and it is usually graced by a golden polar bear but as I walked along Queen's Park I spotted this escapee! The purpose of this is to advertise a competition to design special images for the 5 Canadian circulation coins for 2017 in order to mark the 150th anniversary of our country that year.

This is so funny and unexpected! Great catch!
ReplyDeleteLove it! Agree with VP.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what we'll call the five dollar coin. Somehow "Foonie" doesn't sound quite right. :)
ReplyDeleteHa! This is awesome! I wonder what kind of design will win out
ReplyDeleteA very clever advertising campaign. I'm glad this guy got loose at the bus stop. I'd hate to have him suddenly jump out of my pocket.
ReplyDeletethat's very cool!
ReplyDeleteAlmost like the Berlin Film Festival award! :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a very clever way to advertise the project Pat, very Toronto :)
ReplyDeleteWe're getting a five dollar coin? Or is it five different commemorative toonies?
ReplyDeleteIt's quite unusual to see that on top of a bus shelter.
He's cute! I'm sure he'd also feel at home in Berlin with our buddy bears. :)
ReplyDeleteThat ought to unleash a lot of creativity.
ReplyDeleteA big bear hug for this cutie! Great photo.
ReplyDeleteThat's so funny I can barely stand it! We have an ongoing battle here between people who want to mint a $1 coin and those who want to keep the paper dollar. Tried the $1 coin a few years back - didn't work too well, but that was probably because you couldn't tell it from a quarter!
ReplyDeleteClever! Tom The Backroads Traveller
ReplyDeleteNeat!
ReplyDeleteOK .. For just a second I thought California, because they have golden bears at the State lines. But of course they're not polar bears)). And that is the cutest bus shelter I've ever seen in my life.
ReplyDeleteFun! And I know just the location :) The competition though I did not know about until reading your blog post and that's interesting, not sure how I feel about more coins.
ReplyDeletethat is great!
ReplyDeleteI've heard about the competition. It would have to rhyme with loonie and toonie - or the bear will come after you!
ReplyDeleteWonderful!
ReplyDeleteA great commemoration symbol.
ReplyDeleteThat is a good contest. I wonder what will the winning design look like.
ReplyDeleteMy SIGNS, SIGNS
This is really COOL!
ReplyDeletePretty cool and I hope you will let us know what eventually wins!
ReplyDeleteOh Canada! How wonderful you are!
ReplyDeleteALOHA from Honolulu,

=^..^=
It's like a golden version of the California bear.
ReplyDeleteThat would certainly get your attention! Fantastic catch.
ReplyDeleteI hope it does not fall :))))
ReplyDeleteNice. It will be interesting to see
ReplyDeletewhat designs win the contest!
You are an artist, RedPat. I want to see your entry into the competition.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun1 I like bears, as long as they aren't in my back yard!
