Leaning In There
This very large Catalpa tree is well known in west-end Toronto for the way it leans over Davenport Rd rather precariously but yet continues to hang in even through the really bad ice storms and snow loads we tend to get in winter. It doesn't even seem to lose any branches! It will soon be leafing out and will also be covered with lovely white flowers. It has been nominated in the Great Toronto Tree Hunt which is running now to celebrate the greatest trees in the city. I will have to watch to see if it wins in one of the categories.
I like the way this tree looks, but I would still be afraid to park under it! I hope it wins.
ReplyDeleteIn stormy weather, I might choose to park elsewhere. Quite a tree.
ReplyDeleteAn amazing sight. It really does look like it could tumble over at any time.
ReplyDeletewhat a GRAND tree!
ReplyDeleteI'd be a little wary of parking there!
ReplyDeleteQuite a tree! One wonders how long it'll stay.
ReplyDeleteWhen it blooms, it will be beautiful ;)
ReplyDeleteBuen fin de semana!!
In the worst scenario it will be a problem for the cars and not the houses... I wish it a long and safe life!
ReplyDeletelooks dangerously
ReplyDeleteThat's kind of scary! But what a great neighborhood. I wouldn't want to carry groceries or furniture up all those steps, though. Maybe there's a level way to get in around back?
ReplyDeleteYep, not gonna park my car under it, especially when it's stormy out.
ReplyDeleteWow! It's gorgeous! You'll have to show it to us when it's in bloom!
ReplyDeleteI hope it never falls.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tree. Do the people who live in these houses actually climb all those steps?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Pat. You got everything right! "Old" and "trickster." Love it!
ReplyDeleteBTW, are you familiar with Leonard Cohen (that's not good phrasing, is it?) Do you now of him and if so, what do you think?
I don't think I would park there during a wind storm. I hope you post a photo when it is in full bloom.
ReplyDeleteIt has my vote!
ReplyDeleteOnce again, I'm in love with your Toronto houses.
ReplyDeleteThat's very interesting about the tree hunt! And amazing how that tree hangs in there. Not sure I'd want to park under it tho.
ReplyDeleteThat is a civic treasure!
ReplyDeleteGosh it's an old beauty Pat, can't wait to see it covered in white flowers.. would that be in summer?
ReplyDeleteWow, that is one lovely and powerful tree. I hope you share more about that tree hunt (and photos) it sounds really interesting!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing that ice has not brought it down!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous tree. Love it!
ReplyDeleteSorry I haven't been visiting. Time is tight with the new granddaughter, Joburg deals often with power outages (out for five hours this afternoon) and spotty wifi. Thanks for following me around Joburg virtually.
