Horse Chestnuts

The Horse Chestnut trees have been putting on a wonderful display this spring. This pic was taken last week just as some of the flower petals were starting to fall to the ground. They are such beautiful trees!

  1. I agree., although I'm not sure about the wisdom of planting evergreens underneath. Hmm.

  11. We need some of those down here to keep the sun at bay! I'm guessing that is a church in the background, right?

  13. I found one growing in a ceramic planter in my garden. Decided that wasn't a good idea.... Pulled it up and the conker was at its root. I guess a squirrel hid his stash there...

  14. Horse chestnuts . . . that is a name I have not heard in a long time. I remember some in my old home town in Massachusetts but can't think of one in Connecticut.

  17. I agree on the beauty of these great big trees. I collect the chestnuts every Autumn to put in the house to keep the spiders away.

  20. Nice shot of all the blossoms Pat. After our extremely cold winter the plant kingdom is doing much better than thought it would.
