Queen West Ghost Sign

There are actually a couple of signs on this building on Queen St West. It looks as if the H J Lavelle wine company also sold Coca Cola  and they had painted their sign over a previous one that is possibly for a printing company - a bit is visible towards the left. The Lavelle company went out of business in 1917 so the sign is quite an old one! And of course we have the CN Tower photobombing the pic on the right.

  7. I love the ghost sign. It's fun to find these in places. I heard a story on the news yesterday about a school in Oklahoma that was going to replace all of it's black boards with white boards. When the they took the old blackboards down, they found other even older blackboards underneath with all kinds of lessons on them that were dated 1917. It was like a little time capsule.

  11. I was thinking the photobombing CN Tower too. All the technology we have and there are still MILLIONS of wires everywhere.

  16. Fabulous picture in so many ways. Love that there are two ghost signs (and a tad envious, must admit). And that iconic photo bomb. The old and the new. ... Love it.
