A Green Beauty

I was driving past an auto body shop when I spotted this green beauty parked out front so of course I pulled over immediately. It is a 1959 Chevrolet Bel Air sedan - love those fender skirts! You don't see many of these from that year.

  6. Ah... the Bel-Air with fender skirts and white walls. Certainly a classic family car here in the 60's.

  7. Let's go agitate the gravel, burn some rubber, and go for a jaunt to the soda fountain.....

  8. Oh yum! I owned a 1957 Ford Fairlane 500, 4-dr hardtop, salmon & white. It was a lemon, but looked great.

I owned a 1950 Plymouth coupe, dark green. Wood grain interior. I was a super car.

I owned a 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air, blue and white. Another great car.

I owned a 1955 Plymouth station wagon. That was OK.

There may have been more; my memory ain't so good anymore. I figure now if I had the money I blew on cars, I could have retired to Beverly Hills (Caifornia)!

My 1937 Chevy had fender skirts, and I had it lowered like this one, and it was stripped of decoration and smooth all over. Very cool.

  10. I have shot a few hundred classic rides this weekend. They don't make them like this no more.

  19. We sure loved those things when I was a young tike. What were we thinking?

Go back and look again at Boston City Hall. It is in three horizontal levels that reflect what happens inside. The lower level is open and welcoming, leading residents inside for their interactions with the City, like getting building permits, paying tax bills, etc. The middle levels are complex, where the mayor has his offices and where the City Council has offices and chamber. And, the top level is uniform and disciplined, where the residents don't visit but bureaucrats process paperwork and handle the repetitive but necessary functions of government.
