This window belongs to what had been a gatehouse to a large estate, Uplands, off Bayview Ave. It is now a private home and the estate itself has been divided into smaller lots. The Tudor style gatehouse was built in 1921 and designed by Eden Smith and now has heritage designation. Just as I took this pic a bus passed behind me which you can see in the reflection!

I'm impressed! I like it a lot!
ReplyDeleteThis makes me think of Traitor’s Gate at the Tower of London with a lovely holiday wreath on it. The refection is interesting. I am wondering if the gate has glass in the center to allow the reflection or if that part of the home back there.
ReplyDeleteI like the stone walls of this building !
ReplyDeleteThat is one big window.
ReplyDeleteQuite an appealing, pretty structure!
ReplyDeleteOh that worked out well for a great reflection!
ReplyDeleteI like even more the symmetry than the reflections...
ReplyDeleteI like the way they've put a window in the place of the opening. Very clever repurposing. This place well deserving of heritage status.
ReplyDeleteJoli coups d oeil ;o)
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw the reflection, I thought perhaps you were on a bus tour of great homes. Good one.
ReplyDeleteEloquent gatehouse, P
ReplyDeleteA very inviting gatehouse entrance
ReplyDeleteThat's a beautiful building detail and I love the wreath (and snow!)
ReplyDeleteNicely framed shot. The place looks very good for being so old!

ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous building. Great shot of it!
ReplyDeleteLovely reflections in this exquisite window!
ReplyDeletehow pretty.
ReplyDeleteI think I could live in the gatehouse quite comfortably. :-)
ReplyDeleteIt would be amazing to live in that former gatehouse -- so interesting it has survived as a home while the estate has been divided up. Have you ever explained heritage designation? Does it mean people can live in the home, but can't change anything? Inside and out?
ReplyDeleteLove the stone arch work and lovely reflection. Have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteComo siempre estupendas todas tus fotos.
ReplyDeleteSaludos.
A great and impressive gate with a nice reflection. I like that.
ReplyDeleteGood reflection Pat !!
ReplyDeleteNice shot! I like how the brick arch frames the reflection.
ReplyDeleteIt has beautiful stonework and clever lanterns.
