Let There Be Light

This is the lantern that you could see on the fence in yesterday's post. I imagine it originally was lit by gas but it seems to only be decorative these days although I haven't been by in the dark to be sure!

    I'm surprised it hasn't been adapted to electric light Pat :) I'm kind of glad it hasn't though!

    Oh my, I'm closing my eyes and imaging it lit with flickering light. It must have been stunning to see. Like something out of a Sherlock Holmes movie.

    A beautiful detail. I love the light from gas lamps, but I understand why they're not used so much anymore.
