I spotted this sign in a city maintained garden recently. There is a push on here to plant more milkweed in order to help the Monarch Butterflies that depend on it for food but it is sometimes difficult to find it at the garden centres so it seems that some of the city plants must have been disappearing!

ReplyDeleteThis is a great sign. Someone cares about the monarchs. Over the years we have seen fewer of them, especially in the fall when they migrate through here.

ReplyDeleteMaybe some ignorant people thought milkweed was a weed and therefore did not deserve to live. Hope the sign does some good!

ReplyDeleteDon’t think I would recognize a full grown milkweed plant but I do have a pretty butterfly weed plant nearby and it is quite common in my neck of the woods.
