A Masked Creature

This little guy scampered across the roadway in Wychwood Park and headed up the tree but not before stopping to give me a good looking over. There are estimated to be hundreds of thousands of these raccoons living in Toronto getting into all kinds of trouble - eating garbage, ripping their way into people's homes, etc. They are cute though! That is a large trampolines in a Wychwood back garden behind him.

  5. Devious but cute. I see them here from time to time. I remember one hot day seeing one snoozing up on a large branch in a tree.

  6. I have to agree they are cute. But having put up with them ripping garbage and generally causing havoc isn't fun.

  7. They may be cute but are miserable critters and mess things up badly...I've not seen any in our neighborhood but they are around the area. In Pennsylvania they were a big nuisance, climbing a long flight of back steps to tear our garbage apart! Aargh!

    Nice shot, though!

  10. oh what fun! I have seen their footprints on my back deck and have told Pixie to give them a wide berth. She is more of a runner than a fighter, so she should be OK while supervised.

  20. love seeing these little raccoons! We see them often at our cabin and they can be so personable, except when they are after the birdseed in the bird feeder!

  22. We had a friend who was in her 90s, and did not see too well. A raccoon got into her house. She got a broom and swept it out the back door says, "That pesky cat didn't want to leave." That gave us a laugh. Fortunately there was no harm done to anyone, including the raccoon.
