More of the signs from Honest Ed's showing a bit of the sense of humour that he had. I intend to go back at night before it closes at the end of the month and get a night shot of the big signs at the corner of Bathurst & Bloor. The 4.5 acre property that includes the store and many heritage buildings along Markham St are to be developed with several towers of varying sizes as well as parks and the renovation of some of the heritage buildings.

Honest Ed did have a sense of humor. I wonder if he advertised on TV?
ReplyDeletea night shot would be awesome! :)
ReplyDeleteCircus of Savings! Thanks for the cheery start to my day, Pat
ReplyDelete4.5 acres is quite a lot of space! I'd say that property is a developers dream.
ReplyDelete...nothing lasts forever.
ReplyDeleteOnly the name already is a joke. But a shot in the dark would be nice.
ReplyDeleteWell that is an eye-catching store front!
ReplyDeleteHonest Ed must have been quite the character pushing his bargains. I wouldn't be surprised if he had a tv ad, his personality would have been great for sales. The store front in lights would be great.
ReplyDeletewonderful Pictures.
ReplyDeleteI like your shots from good old honest Ed's place. So many folks will miss this place when it's gone.
ReplyDeleteIt surely catches attention!
ReplyDeleteSad to see a icon like this one disappear.
ReplyDelete'Only the floors are crooked!' Great signs!
ReplyDeleteHonest Ed stretches the truth by claiming to be "World Famous". We never heard of him here in SD, but then we don't claim to know all that much about the rest of the world.
ReplyDeleteHonest Ed's made me think of an editorial cartoon series I've been following called Non Sequitur about a character called Capt. Eddie. :-) http://www.gocomics.com/nonsequitur
ReplyDeleteI love this! So glad you are taking pictures before it is gone.
ReplyDeleteIt's sad when known buildings are demolished in favor of some new towers.Good thought to go and try to capture the signs before it all goes down.
ReplyDeleteEveryone loves a bargain.. I bet Honest Ed makes a fortune Pat ☺
ReplyDeleteEd was quite a character, as I recall. I don't know, his son has always come across as something of an opportunist.
ReplyDeleteFunny guy. I think this one of a kind character and his store will be missed
