Infill In The Annex
I have shown you many pics of the wonderful large Victorian homes found in the Annex neighbourhood over the years and today I present one in a totally different style. This is an infill house built on a small lot that had previously held a garage and had a few parking spaces. The house occupies almost the whole lot - that garage peeking in on the left is a different lot as are the trees on the right. I think there is a lovely airy deck out back and lots of skylights so it is probably quite bright inside despite this imposing facade.
That really is making the best use of space. I think this is happening more and more these days. I've seen similar being built on Grand Designs, I bet it's fab inside!
ReplyDeleteThe style of the house is Modern which became common in the 1960-70s. It is a good style for the small lot. Interesting photo.
ReplyDeleteElbowing it's way in, I see :)
ReplyDeletePerfect for the spot it occupies! Back from our Alaska cruise. We ended in Vancouver which is an amazing city that captured my heart and my pocketbook.
ReplyDeleteMissed all of you; come visit!
That's what I like about many contemporary designs--plenty of natural light.
ReplyDeleteIt is so different from the lovely Victorian homes around it. It makes me wonder if the neighbors might be a bit ill at ease about it being there. I do like it's modern lines however, I would have had those shade up to let the light in even more.
ReplyDeleteRoom to fit. What a nice modern looking house, I like this, it's very attractive.
ReplyDeleteWell that is interesting.
ReplyDeleteI had to go look up 'infill house.' I had never heard the term before. I do try to learn something new every day. Thanks!
It's a house I'd love to look inside.
ReplyDeleteIt is interesting and I would love to see inside. No doubt it is spectacular.
ReplyDeleteSure doesn't look victorian to me. But maybe it was some out building at one time.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on
I like it. They are popular over here too.
ReplyDeleteI hope you will see the owner and tell him/her that we would love to see the light coming inside....
Looks very nice indeed.
ReplyDeleteHello, it looks like it took up every inch of the lot. I am sure it is amazing inside. Happy Sunday, enjoy your day and new week ahead!
ReplyDeleteIt happens a lot here too. These places clash horribly with the neighbourhood around them.
ReplyDeleteNice but I like the Victorian houses better!
ReplyDeleteThe land up there is so valuable that I am not surprised to see infill housing, but it would have been more to my taste if it made more of an effort to fit in architecturally.
