New On The Row

I was parking down at the end of a dead end street which offers free parking close to Yonge St, Toronto's main street, when I spotted this addition to a row of houses. The red brick row houses were built several years ago on a shallow lot very close to a busy railway line. This stone and wood home has been added to the end of the row and it is even closer to the train tracks which curve out towards the road here. I love the look of the new house but it must get shaky in there when some of the long noisy trains go by!

    It certainly stands out as different from the others Pat.. I'm not sure even double glazing would keep the noise out when so close to the railway. Maybe it's something that you can get used to 😀

    Looks very nice indeed and it is today possible to keep the noise out with glass and with mass in the walls.

    There is such a differance in style between the older and the new property, I'm surprise they got planning permision. Love your little cheeky chipmunk, gorgious little creature.

    I really like the look of this place and I love that patio! I can't imagine why anyone would want to invest in a home so close to railroad tracks. The location must be worth it.

    The design of this building looks like 1960s modern with all the straight lines. Interesting looking. Too bad about the closeness of the rail line. Are there many trains a day?

    Perhaps it is a commuter line that is quiet at night. One would like to think that. Our area of the North (San Francisco) Bay just got a passenger line for the first time in over 70 years. Some discovered to their shock that they live close to a train only after the fact.

    What a nice looking house, I like it. It would be interesting to step inside to hear and feel how it reacts to a train.

    I'm not a big fan of newer modern architecture (I enjoy the building behind it) but this one is rather pretty, and I really like it.
