I first showed a pic of the Bloor Cinema back in 2012 (HERE) bu the theatre has recently been renamed the Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema after a $4million gift from the Ted Rogers Foundation. For the last several years it has been showing wonderful documentary films from around the world and is the site of many doc film festivals as well.

Good!
ReplyDelete...hotdog!
ReplyDeleteHello, it is nice to see this old Cinema still in business. Great sign.
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday, enjoy your day!
Nothing a little donation can't fix
ReplyDeleteLooks really smart now Pat, thank goodness it was rescued! I see a mural up in the right hand corner ☺
ReplyDeleteGood there is a theater that shows documentary films. These films are rarely shown except on Public Broadcasting television.
ReplyDeleteGreat name for this great cinema!
ReplyDeleteI'm also glad the theater was saved and renovated and is still going strong. But I don't know Hot Docs or Ted Rogers...must be Canadians, right?
ReplyDeleteNeat looking building. Can't say I'm a fan of the re-naming, but I have a pretty low opinion of Rogers in general.
ReplyDeleteVery nice refurbishment. At first I thought it said "Hot Dogs" I hope it gets a lot of use.
ReplyDeleteIt's always nice to see something like this saved and put to good use.
ReplyDeleteNice, Pat!
ReplyDeleteIt's still looking good, nice!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update on the Bloor Theater. I thought it was demolished long ago.
ReplyDeleteLike how they handled the restoration.
ReplyDeleteAlways nice to see the old become new again!
ReplyDeleteInteresting name indeed
ReplyDeleteYes, Hot Docs is definitely an inspired name.
ReplyDeleteGosh I'm not sure I would ever have figured out what 'Hot Docs' referred to without your explanation.... it makes perfect sense now and is really clever ... and I feel sort of illiterate for not thinking of it right away. But definitely this is another great example of something you wouldn't see in a small or average sized city....
ReplyDeleteGreat facade with a touch of the art deco style a lot of famous theaters have and had in the past. Clever restoration.
ReplyDeleteNice to see old buildings restored and used. Hot Docs is an interesting name but makes sense once you know what they show there!!
ReplyDeleteThe building and the signage has that funky feel to it.
ReplyDeleteFrankly My dear
Glad it was saved. Odd name.
ReplyDeleteExcellent place and those flower are lovely too!
