Better Living At The EX
Not all of the buildings on the Exhibition Place grounds are vintage. This is the Better Living Centre which was opened in 1962 and is one of several Modernist buildings found there. It was originally used to showcase cutting edge consumer goods during the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) but like most of the other buildings on the grounds it is now used primarily as an event space.
I like those clean, modernistic, curving lines. It's a beautiful structure.
ReplyDelete...I may have seen this one when it was new.
ReplyDeleteGosh this couldn't be more different from the Horse Palace Pat.. I quite like the curves 😊
ReplyDeleteHello, it is a beautiful modern building. Happy Friday, enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteIt sure does look modern
ReplyDeleteI like the building's rounded edges
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
What a contrast! This is nice, but I am a little partial to the vintage buildings.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure why but, that "House of the Future" that used to be at Disneyland years and years ago popped into my head. I guess I was expecting that futuristic devices would be on display inside.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly looks a lot more contemporary.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I saw this building I thought you were at a church in my home town!
ReplyDeleteVintage, to be sure.
ReplyDeleteMid Century modern!
ReplyDeleteI like it, it definitely looks futuristic from a 60s perspective.
ReplyDeleteThis building looks like it was heavily influenced by the Prairie Style architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright. But this is obviously not a Wright building.
ReplyDeleteMuito bonito e elegante, formando juntamente com a natureza, uma bela paisagem.
ReplyDeleteIt is a nice looking building. Too many buildings from the 1960s are Brutalist, which is my least favorite style. The architects were wise not to try to be too trendy.
