This is the mural that you can see on the left-hand pillar visible in yesterday's post. Artist Philip Cote is depicting the Anishnaabe creation story through these murals but I don't know much about the symbolism of the images and could find little info on-line and don't want to make mistakes. The mural is so beautiful and it seems that the fish might reference the fact that we are right beside the Humber river.

Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteVery bright colours and clear images. Yes, it would be fun to learn the symbolism.

ReplyDelete...how wonderful.
ReplyDeleteGreat detail shot of this mural. The fish looks quite real.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautifully done. I know the circle motif is quite common in various First Nations cultures, and the story itself is probably along the lines of what I had in that topiary from MosaiCanada with the son of the creator and the animals. That tribe does tend to refer to North America as Turtle Island for instance.
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful, Pat !
