I spotted this painted utility box on College St on the U of Toronto campus. The artist for this one is Keight MacLean, a recent art school graduate whose work shows where "historical influences meet modern techniques". It does remind one a bit of the old masters - not what you expect to find in such a location.

Indeed, that is not what one would expect on a utility box. I like it. I wonder what the story is behind it.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteIt is different than the usual utility box murals. Still lovely though.
Enjoy your day, have a great new week ahead!
Very pretty, very grand for an utility box and I agree with you it does remind me of an old masters painting.
ReplyDeleteThanks for contributing Pat.
Interesting! I would like to see the sides, too, as the scene seems to continue around there.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week!
I'm enthusiastic about art on utility boxes! I wonder if it's spontaneous or organized by municipalities or by utility companies. We have it too (Ann Arbor, MI).
