Cross Of Sacrifice
In the picture I showed on Sunday of St Paul's Bloor St church you could see this large cross off to the right. The church is the regimental church of the Queen's Own Rifles of Canada regiment and this is their Cross of Sacrifice, a memorial to the fallen members of the regiment. In WWI alone 500 men from the church served and 76 were killed.
Beautiful photo and thank you for the history! That is amazing and what a great memorial to those that served and gave all!
ReplyDeleteHello, I love the cross and the pretty church! Wishing you a happy day!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully shown Pat, so many young men lost in the First and Second World War.. we can only hope there won't be a third.
ReplyDeleteThat makes a beautiful memorial.

ReplyDeletePretty, and nice to see folks out and about in the wintertime!
ReplyDeleteA lovely cross and beautiful church. Nice composition, Pat.
ReplyDeleteA fitting place for such a memorial.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a high percentage of fatalities. I guess they've earned their memorial cross.
ReplyDeleteBonita escena Pat.
ReplyDeleteBesos.
It looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteWar memorials are always so touching. This cross is quite modern looking for a WWI memorial.
ReplyDeleteI noticed that in your earlier photo; didn't think to ask about it. World War I was such a slaughter.
