I spotted this red squirrel out on a day when the snow was starting to disappear. I hadn't seen one of these guys since our deep snow arrived. Taking part in Saturday's Critters. Click HERE to see more creatures from around the world.
What beautiful coloration it has! I fear many of our local critters went hungry when we had our uncharacteristically heavy snows. One of our farms suffered very heavy crop losses when migrating birds ate all the growing broccoli because they couldn't forage their usual fallow fields.

ReplyDeleteSquirrels are so cute!
ReplyDeleteI am threatening to shoot them here (I would not really do that) because they eat the suet I put out for the Woodpeckers!
Lovely little one and smart to wait until the snow is gone .

ReplyDeleteSuch cute little critters.
ReplyDeleteDevious but adorable.
ReplyDeleteThey have been out and about here for a while. They are pretty pugnacious too; if they squabble with the Grey Sqirrels they seem to come out ahead.
ReplyDeleteRed squirrels always remind me of the forester in Doc Martin who was visited by a giant red squirrel. :-)
ReplyDeleteThe little guy is concentrating on eating his food. Great shot!

They are smart little critters..they know to cozy up by the fireplace ...or, er, stash of acorns .... until the weather breaks.
ReplyDeleteI love the squirrels! Your gate is nice, too. What is your snow like in TO? I was shocked when we went to Ottawa, about 2 - 3'.
ReplyDeleteHow cute!
