Tim Hortons is the largest fast food restaurant chain in Canada, famous for its coffee and doughnuts and named after the legendary hockey player, Tim Horton. I can walk to at least 5 of the outlets in a short time. Tim founded the chain with a partner and was involved in the operation until his death in a car accident in 1974. This is the first time I have seen this pic of Tim displayed outside one of the shops so I had to stop. He was a rough and tough defenceman with our beloved Toronto Maple Leafs and was with them to win 4 Stanley Cup championships in the 1960s. They haven't won again since 1967!

You can't beat coffee and doughnuts in the morning!
ReplyDeleteI was surprised to see in our local newspaper this morning that Mississippi has a Doughnut Trail! There is a map showing the best places to get doughnuts all across the state. I am going to have to check that out!
Have a great day!
I don't remember when I last had a donut.
ReplyDeleteCoffee? Every morning!
We had a player, Jon Horton here.
ReplyDeleteMy last doughnut... ages ago, now I´m hungry!
I knew Tim Horton's was a restaurant, but thank you for the history. Yes, I remember when the Maple Leafs were unbeatable. My Chicago Blackhawks did not stand a chance back then.
ReplyDeleteAnd in another hundred years, Leafs fans will still be saying, 'this year, baby, this year!'
ReplyDeleteThere's no shortage of Tims here, but I don't like coffee or doughnuts.
I didn't know the Tim Horton story so I'm glad to know it now. He was a handsome fellow, that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteIt has always amazed me how close one Tims is to another lol! I was somewhere once where I could see a Tims from the Tims I was at!
ReplyDeleteAre the coffee and donuts delicious. Sounds popular, with so many restaurants in the area. Wishing you a great day!
ReplyDeleteI have heard of that chain but didn't know its history. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteLove my Timies!
ReplyDelete...my niece owns 9 stores in the Western New York area and I would bet that almost no one knows who Tim Horton is in this area today. Thanks for sharing, enjoy your week.
ReplyDeleteI've heard of Tim Horton but never been in one. I didn't know he was a hockey player.
ReplyDeleteCool thanks!
ReplyDeleteA beauty.
ReplyDeleteI usually avoid such chain stores but Tim Hortons' are just great. I didn't know the back story, so thanks.
ReplyDeleteI've seen one of these in Victoria as I passed on a bus. I didn't know who Tim Horton was, though.
ReplyDeleteThat's a cool tribute to Tom Horton Pat ✨
ReplyDeleteBonito recuerdo.
ReplyDeleteUn abrazo.
