When I first saw this unusual bird feeder at the Veterans Centre I thought it was impossible for any birds to get peanuts but it turns out that the ones with long thin beaks like the Red-breasted Nuthatch have no trouble at all. They poke through the openings and get the peanuts out of the shells while the resident squirrels find it impossible to get anything.

ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool looking feeder, love the cute Nuthatch too. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend. PS, thank you always for your visits and comments on my blog.
That's a pretty nice bird feeder. The squirrels no doubt will try and find a solution. It might take time but you can't count them out. :)
ReplyDeleteFine Nuthatch photo on this unique feeder. Never have seen one like it.
ReplyDeleteI love to watch how enterprising birds (and squirrels) can be when it comes to getting at the food.
ReplyDeleteIt is funny;-))
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful bird feeder!!
ReplyDeleteHow clever; Satisfying to see simple elegant solutions!
ReplyDeleteWe have only the White-breasted Nuthatches here.
ReplyDeleteA pretty bird.
ReplyDeleteSooner or later the squirrels will crack it.
Joy for the birds, sorrow and frustration for the squirrels.
ReplyDeleteI think I need one of those!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like it's been successful so far. What a great idea!
ReplyDeleteFantastic feeder!
ReplyDeleteThat's neat! It is shaped like an old fashioned coffee pot.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute feeder Pat, always amazed at the many styles. I feed the birds way up in the back garden but a bit reluctant to put one in the trees closer to the house incase they attract rats! Lovely to see the little birds feeding 💙
ReplyDeleteI've never seen one like that! How neat! And what a gorgeous bird!
