The reason I was wandering about downtown was to see this sculpture that has been newly installed in the financial district. Called 'Dreaming', it is by Spanish artist Jaume Plensa whose work I have loved ever since seeing a major show of his at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park in England several years ago. This lovely head is 8 metres tall and is made of resin and marble dust. I'll show more the next couple of days.
It's beautiful. It reminds me of one I saw in Chicago some 16 years ago. It has a very serene look to it.
ReplyDelete...a big dream.
ReplyDeleteHuge!
ReplyDeleteWow, that is something grand!
ReplyDeleteBig and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWow, is right! What a cameo!
ReplyDeleteI like it!
ReplyDeleteWow!
ReplyDeleteShe does look to be sound asleep. Perhaps she is dreaming. Wonder if she snores? It is a beautiful sculpture.
ReplyDeleteSuch a serious look. Wonder what she´s dreaming of or about...
ReplyDeleteI saw that one a few years ago on a big outdoor sculpture exhibition in the streets of amsterdam.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteIt is lovely, I like the name Dreaming too.
Take care, enjoy your day!
What a wonderfully serene face she has Pat, so beautifully sculpted ✨
ReplyDeleteLovely is a good adjective. It is admirable the art is being added for public enjoyment and contemplation.
ReplyDeleteThere's a not dissimilar piece right now at Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
ReplyDeleteVery cool!
ReplyDeleteThis reminded me of a white head sculpture I saw in West Hartford years ago, but alas, not the same sculptor.
