This really large mural was painted last year above the entrance to a community centre and shows the four sacred medicines of the indigenous people. They are tobacco, sweet grass, sage, and cedar and are used in everyday life as well as in ceremonies. The artists for this one are those of the Red Urban Nation and several of the names are listed on the mural itself. You can tell the scale of the piece by looking at the doors which are standard commercial doors.

Beautiful great mural.
ReplyDeleteWow, it's a gigantic mural and love the background colours and all the detail. Couldn't imagine tobacco being a medicine, lol.
ReplyDeleteThanks for participating in Monday Murals Pat.
That is a huge mural with the plants beautifully depicted. I like the sunset-like background too.
ReplyDeleteIt is a beautiful mural honoring native medicine, but I can't help thinking tobacco must be Native American's revenge as it has killed millions of people.
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful.
