This shot was taken on one of my roams about the residential areas of the Yorkville & Annex neighbourhoods. I love these old row house which I guess we would call townhouses today. They were built during the 1890s and you can just make out the oval signs beside the doors which tell us they have heritage designation as do all of the other houses along this street.
Very distinctive.
ReplyDeleteFine looking row houses from the late 19th Century. One reason they were built so close to each other is because the major transportation of the day was walking, and this shortened the distance people had to travel.
ReplyDeleteLots of character in the row houses. They still look grand today.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteThey are grand townhouses and a very nice neighborhood.
Take care, enjoy your day and week ahead.
They are beautiful and I bet they are expensive too.

ReplyDeleteYou know your history Pat.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful and elegant style and some lovely tree colors too!
ReplyDeleteI love old neighborhoods like this, unknown in my town of residence these days.
ReplyDeleteInteresting architecture, especially the windows.
ReplyDeleteRoaming the streets is always good :-)
And sharing even better!
The time that housebuilding was still taken serious by the contractor and craftsmen. Now only money dictates.
ReplyDeleteAlways a reassuring pleasure to see the ancients
