This is the Medical Science building, known as the Med Sci, at U of Toronto. Built in 1969, the architect was able to have the public arts funds used to decorate the facade leaving us with wonderful relief patterns on the pre-cast cladding. I've always been a fan of Brutalist architecture when it is done well so love this one. Taken from the lawn at Queen's Park.
I'm not a fan of that style, but this is somewhat alleviated.
ReplyDeleteI learned something new today... Brutalist architecture.
ReplyDeleteIt was good that public arts funds were used to soften this building. I have never been a fan of Brutalist Architecture. Perhaps I'm just a grumpy old guy.
ReplyDeleteThis one is done very well. I think I see little patches of snow that have settled in places on the facade.
ReplyDeleteI need to learn more about brutalist architecture. Interesting building.
