May Theme: Museum

The May theme for the City Daily Photo Blog community is Museum and I couldn't show anything other than our Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) with its wonderful Crystal addition. The Crystal addition was designed by Daniel Libeskind and opened in 2007 to much debate. You either love it or hate it. I quite like it. In this shot you can see how the addition crashes into the older traditional building.

Taking part in the museum theme. Click HERE to see more museums from around the world.

  1. That is an amazing piece of architecture. It reminds me in a way of Frank Gehry's work. Bold, very bold.

  3. Brilliant architecture, I love it too.
Our Perth Museum also got a very modern addition attached to the old building.

  4. This structure does make a strong statement. Form does NOT follow function here.

  5. I do love the ROM, but I am of the camp that hates the addition.

  6. When I was very young I sometimes went to the Royal on weekends. It cost a dime to get in.

  12. I'll have to think about it for a bit. But I think I can agree with you, though I'm usually against such things.

  13. I went to the ROM several times as a child (1950s/60s). But I've never benn back to see the Crystal.

  15. Must say it doesn't care about the environment but I am now very curious to see what it looks like inside.
