This row of buildings, just down the street from yesterday's building, was built in 1893 as small cottages for workers. Over the years they had all been converted to little shops like hairdressers and dog groomers. That is all going to change as it looks like they may all be coming down. As the banner says they are "building for the future". I wonder what we will see here in the future.

A shame.
ReplyDeletePerhaps the renovated building will be energy efficient? You will have to keep us informed of this project's development.
ReplyDeleteToo bad they have to go. I hope the new building is worthy of the space.
ReplyDeleteIt is a shame the buildings are coming down, it seems a waste.
ReplyDeleteThey could be remodeled. Take care, have a happy day!
Big renovation going on.
ReplyDelete...building something tall with glass?
ReplyDeleteAnother high rise building maybe?
ReplyDeleteToronto does a pretty good job of saving some of the legacy buildings and houses. It will be interesting to see what happens here. Thank you Pat for preserving aloha
ReplyDeletePity if they go as they look quite attractive.
ReplyDeleteThese are the strata sort of housing here. Real estate is a profitable business.
ReplyDeleteProgress. Sad.
ReplyDeleteSometimes you just can't refurbish them. We had a house in Toronto, and my dad and first husband replaced all the wiring and plumbing. It was epic.
ReplyDeleteSomething like the buildings visible in the background I suppose. Who is living in all these expensive condo buildings?
ReplyDeleteBut those facades with their human scale will not come back I am afraid.
ReplyDeleteVery sad. It looks very interesting.
ReplyDeleteSuch a shame to lose a piece of history.
