One of the very formal rooms at Massey College is the Round Room which is indeed round and is the place where people defend their PhDs. The defender sits behind this wonderful desk while the questioners are spaced around the circumference of the room. I was part of a tour with many people so was unable to get a shot showing the whole room which is lit by a large round skylight.
It looks like a very bright room to present one's PhD!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the presentation!!
What a unique room to fulfill a unique task.
ReplyDeleteIt is a unique room, I like the desk!
ReplyDeleteTake care, have a wonderful week!
I used to live in a round house in Alaska.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like the hot seat to me. Might be scary to be placed there. My defense took place around a conference table, a much more neutral setting.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great looking desk. However, I think I would be a bit nervous sitting behind it.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, that is a beautiful desk and I'm sure the room is equally as impressive. I'll bet there have been some people behind it sending up a few prayers before the questioning started. Of course, they should be pretty sure of themselves by that time, but the idea of the faculty sitting around that circle ready to poke holes sounds quite intimidating
ReplyDelete!
Quite a space.
ReplyDeleteThat would be what I call a crown chair
ReplyDeleteWow, I can't see myself sitting there though. But a nice desk it is.
ReplyDeleteWell literally at the center of attention. You just have to be able to stand it.
ReplyDeleteOh, boy, I would not want to sit there!
ReplyDeleteWe stood single in front all other students - was not better ;-)
That's the room where I did my Ph.D. defense. Talk about intimidating!
