House Sparrows seem to enjoy having a sand bath so much. I don't remember if I have ever seen other birds doing this. There are actually 6 Sparrows having a good time in this small patch of sand found along a laneway.

ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever seen birds playing in sand. I wonder why they do that.
ReplyDeleteI don't when I last saw this activity.
ReplyDeleteThey love it! I can see myself splashing around in a puddle....a sand bath...not so much! heehee!
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's a new movement, playing in the sand. :)
ReplyDeleteThe group of sparrows must have found some crumbs of food.
ReplyDeleteOr they are enjoying a dirt bath! Great capture! Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a great weekend.
When I was a child, we had chickens, and I remember them taking dust baths. I think it helps them get rid of mites and other parasites.
ReplyDeleteHow cute is that.
ReplyDeleteI've seen other bird species doing the same. I once heard it was to get rid of mites.
ReplyDeleteThey are lovely.
ReplyDeleteIn our garden exactly the same and that at the other side of the ocean.
ReplyDeleteThey certainly do enjoy their surroundings and gathering together.
ReplyDeleteHello :)
ReplyDeleteA wonderful sighting, which I have only seen once. I believe they are cleaning their feathers of mites.
All the best
