This is the Bata Shoe Museum which is located on Bloor St very near yesterday's hot dog stand. The museum was designed by architect Raymond Moriyama and is celebrating its 30th anniversary. It is a surprisingly (to me) interesting place to visit with a collection going back thousands of years as well as special exhibits of a more contemporary style. The building is said to reference an open shoe box.

I'd like to visit that museum one day.
ReplyDeleteMoriyama had quite a style. The War Museum is one of his too.
ReplyDeleteA shoe museum. Who would have thought? Yes, the building does look like a shoe box. Good find.
ReplyDelete...I have heard of this museum. Like TFG, who would have thought?
ReplyDeleteInteresting museum! Take care, have a great day and a happy weekend.
ReplyDeleteYes I see the box! I'll bet it is fascinating
ReplyDeleteI don’t know if I would recognize the shoebox, but I can see it when told.
ReplyDeleteIt is a fascinating place to explore
ReplyDeleteI think Jackie posted about her visit to the museum a couple of years ago. It was quite interesting, especially the Bata history. My school shoes were always Bata, and one pair had a compass in the heel.
ReplyDeleteFitting design.
ReplyDeleteOhhh! I wear the same shoes every day but, RedPat,... if you visit, please, if allowed, take pics and share?
ReplyDeleteAn interesting looking building.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, now this is something very special I'd love to go through here! Thank you for sharing this!
ReplyDeleteLife is short, buy the shoes!
