Members of the community in the Annex neighbourhood create this skating rink each year and the city provides access to water for flooding the surface. Often it only lasts a few weeks but this year it has been so cold that the kids have been skating and playing hockey here for weeks on end. It was looking really good one afternoon this week.

This must be great for the community to enjoy. I love the shadows in your photo. The surface looks so smooth.
ReplyDeleteIt is a nice ice rink for the community! Take care, enjoy your day and have a great weekend.
ReplyDelete...no skating here today, it's raining.
ReplyDeleteIt's great that the ice rink has remained in good condition.
ReplyDeleteThat's great. One thing I noticed when I moved from Montreal to Toronto as a boy were that there were fewer outdoor rinks due to a warmer winter. Of course, I was on the outskirts, so it could have been different in the more urban areas.
ReplyDeleteA lot of parks here have the same in winter.
ReplyDeleteThat's what Canada is all about!
ReplyDeleteGreat for the kids, we had an icehockey area on a soccer pitch at my school growing up. Nothing there now.
ReplyDeleteGood idea, awesome for the kids to get fresh air outside.
ReplyDeleteI bet all the kids love it.
ReplyDeleteAt least one person is going to be the canary in the mine to judge when the ice becomes too thin to use.
ReplyDeleteOh, RedPat, that is so nice. In Braunschweig they do it in the heart of the city and of course... a fee involved... (but I´m too old anyways and the kids these days have the money)
ReplyDeletecool!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great place for some winter fun!
