"Tembo, Mother of Elephants"

This sculpture of an elephant family is located in the courtyard of Commerce Court in the heart of the financial district but doesn't seem out of place as the mother appears to be leading the babies to a very large fountain and pool that occupies the centre of the courtyard. By artist Derrick Stephan Hudson the bronze pieces were installed in 2005 and are quite large with mother being over 9' tall!

  1. I think it's a very good place for the sculpture of the elephant family, people can stop for a few seconds and smile in the middle of their busy day.

  2. What a great elephant family sculpture! You could have posed with them - are you camera shy?

  3. I love them. They look like they belong.

I checked my image and you are right . . . it was a chipmunk. I didn't even see it.

  4. She's beautiful. The babies look disproportionately small, but maybe it is the angle.
Nevertheless, a lovely sight, and how wonderful to brighten up a place called Commerce Court. LOL

  10. The elephants are wonderful but I wonder why the babies are smaller than they really are even after being born, compared to the size of the mother, of course.
