Up The Staircase

Another pic from my archives, this is the wonderful Victorian staircase found at Christie House which is the home of Regis College, the Jesuit College at U of Toronto. The house was built in 1900 as the home of William Christie, famous here for his cookie company, and has been part of Regis College since 2009. This grand staircase runs from the basement of the house up to the third floor where it is capped by a beautiful oculus window that lets light down into the heart of the building.

  1. Very grand but I would hate to have to go up and down many times in a day. ;))

  4. A delightfully twisting staircase. I love those, and this one appeals to me.

I have probably passed that house before... but not the last time I was in town a few days ago. I skirted through the area south of the ROM and took some shots on campus.

  6. I've always loved these staircases - well, to look at. To go up or down, I'd prefer an elevator! :)

  7. Staircases are fascinating but can be difficult to capture. Great looking shot RedPat and oculus is a new word for me too!

  9. In regards to your question at my blog, the Canal is open for skating, but that's controlled water, so no problem with swift currents. It's an early season this year.

  11. I love these kinds of stairwells. You've taken such a nice shot of this one. It's sometimes hard to get the angle just right. :)
