Lunch

This male Downy Woodpecker seemed to be enjoying his lunch of seeds and suet. These were one of the few birds that made their presence known all winter.

  3. Woodpeckers are one of my favorite backyard visitors. I always have to take a minute to decide 'downy' or 'hairy' but I'm getting quicker at it.

  5. Established a feeder last month. No woodpeckers at the dinner table yet. Lots of aggressive Starlings, though.
