There has been some construction going on in a local park and sections of dusty earth have been left scattered about. The House Sparrows were taking full advantage of the sand to have a dust bath which helps them to maintain their plumage in top condition. There were actually about a dozen of these little guys fluttering around in the dirt.

I think that House Sparrows enjoy a good dust-bath more than any other birds I know - they do exactly the same here whenever the English climate allows for dust.

ReplyDeleteI saw some house sparrows this morning lapping up the ice cream that had fallen to the sidewalk in front of an ice cream shop here.
