Stairway Window

I spotted this small, rounded window on the side of a large Victorian house in the Annex. I am sure that its purpose is to provide a bit of light on a long staircase and can only imagine how jewel-like that glass must be from the inside when the sun shines through it! It's the kind of detail we miss in a lot of modern homes.

  2. That is gorgeous! The kind of thing that makes me think maybe we should really own a big house instead of an RV and then ...I think of all the rea$son$$$ why we don't! But wouldn't it be fun to see this window from inside?

  3. Now could that be described as an Oriel Window? They always manage to look intriguing don't they like a secret eye on the world.

  4. I agree. While our modern homes are often very convenient and well-built, I, too, miss these special little touches that grace so many older buildings.

    Very nice photograph!

  8. Oh, yes, this is a fine discovery. I'll bet the light is amazing. It is like being inside a very big diamond.

  10. It's a great feature to have on any house, I imagine it looks like a lantern when it's evening and the light inside is on.

  11. What a nice little detail. You're right, we certainly don't have these kinds of details in modern homes!
